Yorke Dance Project, originally based in Los Angeles, has launched in the UK, following artistic director Yolande Yorke-Edgell’s return to the UK. Yorke-Edgell, a dancer with Rambert Dance Company and subsequently a leading dancer with the Bella Lewitzky Dance Company in LA will launch the company with a programme of 4 works entitled GRACE, featuring the legendary Lewitzky’s Recuerdo, originally created in 1990, and one in which Yorke-Edgell danced the leading role.
Yorke-Edgell will remount Divisions on a Ground, originally created for her company in LA, and
create a new work for the programme featuring some of the UK’s leading dancers including Sarah Warsop, (Rambert Dance Company, Siobhan Davies Dance) Pari Naderi (Richard Alston Dance Company, Siobhan Davies Dance) and Greig Cooke (Charles Linehan, Cholmondeleys and Featherstonehaughs).
Internationally renowned choreographer, Lea Anderson has been commissioned to devise a
work for the whole company, a first for both Lea and Yorke Dance Project.
The final part of the programme is a new creation from Yorke-Edgell, entitled Strangade 30, based on the life and works of Danish artist Wilhelm Hammershoi.
