PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

I'm part of the CPD partnership with Plymouth Dance and Dance in Devon, which exists to promote and create a programme of continuing professional development opportunities for practitioners across the peninsula region of the Southwest. I am also a partner in the Dance Southwest network, part of the Theatre Southwest producers forum and I chair the Cornwall Dance Promoters Forum.

Here is are examples of the range of ways that I provide to support professional practitioners and companies:

-one-to-one surgeries: a chance to meet for an hour and discuss your professional development needs including your ideas, aspirations and ask any related questions

-Advice and information- through email or telephone, or in more detail within the surgeries

-The facilitation of a termly networking/focus group event

-Making available the provision of masterclasses, workshops and residencies with visiting dance companies and artists

-Making available the Dance Card grant scheme in partnership with Plymouth Dance and Dance in Devon

-Partnership development with other organisations to provide employment and other opportunities for practitioners

- Advocacy for professional practitioners in Cornwall at county, regional and national events

- Supporting the producing and development of new work, working in partnership with venues, promoters and artists

Big Dance and Cutural Olympiad related events and INSET

development of a project for young disadvantaged people

development of new areas of work for young people in line with regional youth dance strategy

development of a regional plan for dance with and for older people in partnership with other dance agencies

supporting the various summer school opportunities that are happening this year.
