Arts Council opens application for artistic assessors -deadline: 13 October 2010

Arts Council England is looking to appoint around 50 people, with knowledge and expertise in the arts, to write assessments of work by the arts organisations we regularly fund.

They are seeking to appoint people from across the whole of England who are able to assess music, literature, dance, visual art, theatre or combined arts.They are also looking for people with specialisms in areas such as work for children and young people, culturally specific arts and disability arts. Assessors will need to be able to make evidence-based judgement about artistic quality and have an understanding of the context in which arts organisations work.

Assessors will be awarded a two-year contract, starting January 2011. They will write between 10 and 14 reports a year and attend two meetings at the Arts Council. They will be paid a flat fee of £1,000 a year, plus expenses.
