Applications for Resolution!, London's annual platform for short, live dance works by emerging choreographers, are being accepted from Monday 12 July 2010.

Created in 1989 by The Place's former Theatre Director John Ashford, Resolution! is a 6-week season of nightly changing triple bills that runs through January and February.  It presents over 100 companies each year and has helped launch the career of many of the UK's leading dance artists, including Wayne McGregor, Javier de Frutos, Mark Baldwin, Rafael Bonachela and more recently Bawren Tavaziva, Sally Marie, Katie Prince (ZooNation) and Hofesh Shechter.

Participants are selected based on their written applications for existing or proposed new works which meet the following criteria:

The choreographer will be a full-time resident in the UK between the application deadline and performance date (European residents can apply for Aerowaves)

The work features live dance performance and is between 15 and 25 minutes long

The choreographer is not in full-time undergraduate education

The proposed work was not made whilst the choreographer was an undergraduate student

The work has simple technical requirements

Priority will be given to those applications proposing work that is contemporary in content and for groups rather than solo dancers.  The work should be by new artists who have completed full-time vocational training in dance, experienced dancers at the outset of their choreographic career or younger artists who can demonstrate an engagement with the dance profession and its opportunities.  First Footing companies are those making their Resolution! debut, while Evolution companies are returning to the platform with a new piece.  Artists applying for Evolution should show a clear progression from their previous work.

The Aerowaves strand of Resolution!, which has historically provided a platform for European companies to show their work in London for the first time, will also accept applications from British artists wishing to present their work abroad.  The expanded programme will allow for UK companies who have not been seen on the continent to perform in partnering venues throughout Europe. The overall aim of Aerowaves is to develop a network for international touring for both European and British companies.  Applicants for Aerowaves must propose to show an existing work and submit a DVD of that work along with their application

Resolution! runs at The Place from Thursday 6 January to Fridat 18 February 2011.

The deadline for Resolution! applications is Wednesday 15 September at 6pm. 

Aerowaves applications are due by Monday 20 September at 6pm.
