Cost: Fee £20, £15 Concs, £10 BUSU
Live Dates: Sat 18th Feb 11am-4.30pm
Moving and Framing is a one-day workshop for those interested in exploring the connections between dance and the camera and will be led by Lisa May Thomas - an independent dance artist and director whose films have received awards, been screened at film festivals internationally and broadcast on Channel 4.
This workshop will look at how improvisation can be used to both generate choreographic material, and in filming to capture the spontaneity and energy of a performance. Workshop participants may take part as on-screen performers only, others as camera operators and some may choose to move between the two areas of activity. There will be a mix of presentation and discussion of ideas, experimentation, investigation and support.
As well as exploring some different approaches and techniques used in screen-dance, Lisa will discuss examples of editing as a next step in the film-making process, and there will be an opportunity to practice in-camera editing techniques. Participants should bring their own video camera if they have one or state that they would like one provided.
