Newbury Corn Exchange is looking for experienced performers with a track record of working in outdoor performance to form a core ensemble for their innovative landscape and theatre project “The Berkshire Giant” directed by Noeline Kavanagh of Irish company Macnas.

The performance will take place over one week in woods, villages and towns across West Berkshire for audiences of up to several thousand people. We are looking for performers with strong performance, improvisational and physical theatre skills, to work as an ensemble and who have an enthusiasm for outdoor and site-specific work. Strong vocals are important and instrumental/musical ability is a bonus but not essential.

The performance itself will run from 17-23rd June. Main rehearsal period will be from 11th-15th June with 2 x 2 day rehearsal periods in the months prior to this (dates TBC).

Performers will be shortlisted on the basis of their experience and invited to take part in a half day workshop in Newbury on Saturday 18 February. From this workshop a number of performers will be selected to take part in the final project.

The Berkshire Giant is part of Newbury Corn Exchange’s Outdoor Arts programme which has presented a programme of major European companies in the town including Transe Express, Periplum and Sarruga. The programme is produced by Simon Chatterton and funded by Arts Council England, Greenham Common Trust and West Berkshire Council.
