Floor to Ceiling

A Floor to Ceiling Production

"Today we have naming of parts. This is a fishing rod."

Ned is not doing well. He has sat on the pier for three days; he has all the right equipment. But can he catch a fish? No. But he won't give up that easily. After all, he did promise…

86,400 Seconds is a piece of new writing inspired by the Clevedon Pier, performing in the Tobacco Factory's sister studio space: THE BREWERY this autumn.

This is a two-hander about a man (NED) doing a 'three-dayer' fishing off the pier, in memory of his son. After two days of failure, he is distracted from his course by the arrival of a second man (BEN). The action of the play takes place over this last day, or 86,400 Seconds.

AUDITIONS: 18th & 19th September
REHEARSING: 4-25 Oct, 12-15 Nov
PERFORMANCES: 16-27 Nov, 8:15pm (no monday or sunday performances)
RUNNING TIME: approx 1hr.

Please note: as far as possible we will accommodate other commitments, as this is a share-of-profit production, but applicants should be aware that rehearsals may therefore take place during the evenings and at weekends.

Directed by Hannah Drake (Assistant Director on SATTF's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and Director of 'Someone Who'll Watch Over Me' at the Alma Tavern).

CASTING:

NED - male - 35-50
Somewhere in his 40s, Ned is a Risk Analyst who seems to understand numbers more than language or people. Medium height & build with a weathered face, and a sense of being slightly old-fashioned. Grumpy but likeable. In mourning for his son.

BEN - male - 18-26
Although he is only just 20, BEN seems much more mature. A recent recruit to the army, BEN is home on leave. Medium height & build with a cheeky disposition. Short hair, clean shaven. Bubbling undercurrent of energy.

Please send a copy of your CV/Spotlight Pin, covering letter and a recent headshot to: ftctheatre@gmail.com.

Closing date for applications: 17/09/10
