A quick round up of some of the news relating to future arts funding under the new government...
New culture secretary Jeremy Hunt has warned the arts sector that it must be prepared to accept its “share of the pain” come the Comprehensive Spending Review this autumn while at the same time unveilling plans for legislation that will restore the arts sector’s share of Lottery funding to 20%, in a move he claims will generate up to an extra £50 million a year for cultural organisations. The arts currently receive a 16.6% share of Lottery cash. Under Hunt’s proposals, this would be increased to 18% in 2011/12 and 20% by 2012/13.
